Listing in Google Places
This is just some tips we have found helpful to increase your ranking for your business listing inGoogle places. So let’s get on to it:
1. First you have to claim your business listing if it exists in Google places, if not just create a new listing
2. You need to have a physical address in the place you would like your listing to appear
3. In the “Category” field you need to put your relevant keyword
DO NOT OVERDUE, and you will have to choose one category that Google suggest.
4. Make sure your site/business is visible through other channels than just your own (yellow pages etc)
Make sure that the business name is the SAME in all channels.
5. “Of page” factors (outside Google Places)
- Almost as important as “regular” SEO
- Links pointing to your site
- Quality (authority, relevance…etc)
- Quantity
6. Reviews
- From other websites ex: tripadvisor.com if you are in the travel industry.
- From Google places-
- Quantity: The number of reviews.
- Quality: The authority of the sites the reviews is on.
- Ratings. Little or no influence (on your ranking).

- Upload pictures from your business. Emploies, loge etc. Makes your listing more complete.

12. Add Your phone number
13. Local keywords in elements like:
- make sure your keywords are the same in your listing as in your title tag, description tag and keyword tag on your website.

14. Complete address in your listing (same as Google find in other listings like yellow pages etc)

Make sure you DON’T repeat the same as in the title because it could be considered as spam by Google.

17. Full address of your website, but it has to be the same as your listing
18. If possible, include your keyword in your url of your website
Ex: www.yoururl/keyword or www.yoururl/yourcity.

- Your PageRank
- Popularity in MyMaps
- Positive reviews (by others)
- Age of your listing
- Google account name
- Offers or coupons in your listing
